India Insurance Online Marketing Report 2025-26

Online Player Landscape — Cross-Line

This is the “who’s who” dashboard for Indian insurance digital. It shows the main aggregators, private insurers, insurtech challengers, and PSU laggards in one place — so the reader can immediately see who is active across motor, health, life, and travel, who owns digital discovery, and which brands are large in premium but still weak in online presence.
PolicyBazaar operates at a scale no insurer can match.
With an estimated 15M+ monthly organic visits, presence across 4 lines, and dominant visibility at multiple funnel stages, PolicyBazaar behaves less like a lead-gen site and more like the digital landlord of Indian insurance. The larger finding is even sharper: market share and digital presence are almost completely uncorrelated across Indian insurance.

The zero-spend map

The most counterintuitive pattern in the file: several important insurance brands still run zero paid search, including Star Health and multiple PSU insurers.

Why this matters: Star Health is India’s largest standalone health insurer, yet the file marks it as running zero paid search. That is exactly the kind of digital underinvestment this report is built to expose.

What this dashboard says about the category

Reading guide
Aggregators own the top of the funnel across lines.
Private insurers are visible, but fragmented by line and by channel.
InsurTechs are smaller than PolicyBazaar, but far more digitally coherent than many incumbents.
PSUs still carry brand legacy without matching digital depth.

The same dominance repeats in every line

Core hub insight
The motor dashboard found aggregator dominance in renewal and comparison. The health research found PolicyBazaar-level consistency across all cities and all funnel stages. The life layer shows the same pattern in term insurance. In 2025–26, the first credible insurance result most Indian buyers encounter is still an aggregator, not an insurer.
